Solana is a public blockchain platform with smart contract functionality and SOL as its native cryptocurrency. It was first proposed in 2017 and its fist block was created on 16th march'20. This is understood as a big competitor to Ethereum with a higher transactions per second (~65000) and lower gas fee. It enables developers to write on-chain programs in general purpose programming language such as Rust . Rust is a multi-paradigm, general purpose programming language that emphasis performance, type safety and concurrency.
